I wish I had read "Adoption and
Spirituality" before my family traveled to China to adopt our
daughter, Shaohannah. "Adoption and Spirituality" is an
excellent resource packed with practical advice and information - a
"must read" for anyone considering adoption from China.
By simply telling his story, author John D. Rudnick Jr. captures
the physical, emotional, and spiritual elements of adoption from
China. Rudnick thoughtfully applies God's Word to every aspect
of adoption - putting this book at the top of my list for anyone in
the process of adoption or considering adoption. Though the
adoption process in China has changed since the Rudnicks adopted
through Bethany, I personally enjoyed reading about their
experiences and all of the wonderful miracles that only God can
orchestrate. From the first page, readers will experience
God's faithful presence in each story or poem.
I was expecially moved by the personal journal entries that the
author included. It was easy to identify with so many of his
emotions - the fears and questions that I had were obviously
some of the same that Rudnick experienced. I also appreciated
what the author had to say reegarding the birthmother of their
daughter. I think about and often pray for our daughter's
birthmom and am deeply grateful for her gift of love to us.
As a Mom, I would love to have read some of Mrs. Rudnick's
thoughts about the family's adoption experience. Of course, I
know how crazy life can be when you're the mother of
three children. Finding time to write down your thoughts can be nearly impossible. Maybe Kathy and I will
just have to "do lunch" together sometime and compare notes and swap stories.
