"This book will be an invaluable tool for any family considering adoption. It provides insight and wisdom to a process that requires...patience and prayer."

One of the greatest joys in life is sharing good news and entertaining stories with friends. Recently, I read that Reader's Digest is so popular because of its readers' tremendous interest in the personal stories shared by contributing authors.

I wrote this book because of the curiosity and intrigue shown by many surrounding our youngest daughter's adoption. When we began our application process in August 1995, international adoption was rapidly growing for both married and unmarried individuals who considered this over the likely alternative, domestic adoption. (In a sense, we were "blazing a trail" for those who would follow.)

I strongly feel that there are profound teachings and correlations between adoption and the Bible. From historical and spiritual perspectives, the need to write about important events is highlighted in the Bible. After the battle of Amalek, God commanded Moses to "write this down in a document as something to be remembered..." (Exodus 17:14). Our adoption of Jane qualifies as a significant event in our lives worth documenting.
